Introducing Samantha laurilla

The end of the affair

Devil-May-Care

The end of the affair

This  is  not  a  game, this  is  reality,

Separate  the  false  from  what  is  true;

Why  do  you  deny, that  heroes  often  die?

But  no  one  lives  forever, oh  no, not  even  you.

So  just  think  again, weigh  up  the  odds,

Men  are  merely  men, they  are  not  gods;

I  know  you  are  strong, you  do  not  bend,

But  survival  is  what  matters  in  the  end.

Now  playing  Devil- May- Care, is  that  the  deal?

Is  this  the  way  that  you  think? The  way  you  feel?

You  used  to  look  at  chances, and  work  out  all  the  odds,

When  heroes  realised  they  were  not  gods.

But  this  is  not  a  game, this  is  reality,

Separate  the  lies  from  what  is  true;

No  one  should  deny, that  heroes  often  die,

And  no  one  lives  forever, oh  no, not  even  you.

So  who  are  you  now?  I’d  like  to  know,

And  what  will  you  do?   Where  will  you  go?

Is  it  a  secret? How  do  you  feel?

Playing  Devil-May-Care, is  that  the  deal?

Yes, playing  Devil-May-Care, is  that  the  deal?

Is  this  the  way  that  you  think? The  way  you  feel?

You  used  to  look  at  chances, and  work  out  all  the  odds,

When  heroes  realised  they  were  not  gods.

Instrumental

Yes  playing  Devil-May-Care  is  that  the  deal?

Is  this  the  way  that  you  think? The  way  you  feel?

You  use  to  look  at  chances  and  work  out  all  the  odds,

When  heroes  realised  they  were  not  gods.

Is  it  a  secret? Tell  me  what  you  feel,

Playing  Devil-May-Care, is  that  the  deal?

Is  it  a  secret? Tell  me  what  you  feel,

Playing  Devil-May-Care, is  that  the  deal?

Devil-May-Care

Nobody Does Sad Like You

Perhaps  you’ve  never  noticed  me,

But  I’ve  been  watching  you,

I’ve  seen  you  treated  badly  for  so  long,

Lovers  making  promises,
Then  telling  you  they’re  through,

And  trying  to  keep  your  chin  up,

Is  easier  said  than  done.

Nobody  does  sad  like  you,

You’re  tearing  yourself  apart;

Yes, nobody  does  sad  like  you,

You, of  the  tender  heart.

Please  don’t  give  up,
Please  try  again,

And  let  me  into  your  life,

I  want  to  heal  your  pain.

This  much  I  know, these  words  are  true,

Nobody  does  sad  like  you.

Love  has  let  you  down  time  after  time,

Stealing  your  heart, and  that’s  a  crime.

Fooling  you  with  every  single  kiss,

You  deserve  much  better  than  this.

Please  let  me  into  your  life, I  am  your  friend,

You  deserve  a  chance, a  happy  end,

Let  me  stop  your  sadness  and  your  tears,

And  I’ll  be  there  for  you  down  all  the  years.

Nobody  does  sad  like  you,

And  that’s  not  the  way  it  should  be,

Nobody  does  sad  like  you.

And  now’s  the  time  to  set  your  spirit  free,

Nobody  does  sad  like  you.

So  let  me  into  your  life, I’ll  make  it  good,

When  I  saw  your  tears  I  understood,

Let  me  be  the  one  to  bring  you  peace,

The  heartache  and  the  pain  have  got  to  cease.

Nobody  does  sad  like  you,

You’re  tearing  yourself  apart,

Yes, nobody  does  sad  like  you,

You  of  the  tender  heart.

Please  don’t  give  up,

Please  try  again,

And  let  me  into  your  life,

I  want  to  heal  your  pain…

This  much  I  know, these  words  are  true,

Nobody  does  sad  like  you…

Nobody  does  sad…like  you.

Nobody Does Sad Like You

Broken Glass

Look  out  boy, you’re  walking  on  broken  glass,

Can’t  you  see  there  is  another  way?

It’s  where  the  road  is  smooth,                                                               Now  that’s  the  honest  truth,

But  you  won’t  listen, you  don’t  care,

And  throw  my  love  away.

Then  something  shakes, and  something  breaks,

The  mirror  on  the  wall, and  my  heart  too,

Can’t  look  at  me, can’t  look  at  you,

‘cause  you  don’t  care  what  I  am  going  through,

And  you  don’t  see  the  blood, and  the  broken  glass.

Look  out  boy, you’re  walking  on  broken  glass,

Can’t  you  see  you’re  heading  for  a  fall?

And  when  you  hit  the  ground,

There’ll  be  no  one  around,

To  pick  you  up, and  dust  you  down,

Or  hear  you  when  you  call.

The  crystal  glass, that  held  the  wine,

Was  something  that  we  shared  that  time,

But  now  it’s  gone, because  of  you,

And  everything  we  had  is  broken  too,

And  you  don’t  see  the  blood, and  the  broken  glass.

Instrumental

Look  out  boy, you’re  walking  on  broken  glass,

Can’t  you  see  you’re  heading  for  some  pain?

And  when  the  blood  appears,
And  mingles  with  your  tears,

You’ll  realise  you  got  it  wrong,

And  that’s  a  crying  shame.

Then  something  shakes, and  something  breaks,

The  mirror  on  the  wall, and  my  heart  too,

Can’t  look  at  me, can’t  look  at  you,

‘cause  you  don’t  care  what  I’m  going  through,

And  you  don’t  see  the  blood, and  the  broken  glass.

‘cause  there’s  a  broken  heart  in  the  broken  glass.

Yes, there’s  a  broken  heart  in  the  broken  glass.

….Broken  glass

Broken Glass

Nothing Hurts Like Hurt

Nothing  hurts  like  hurt,

Do  you  know  what  I  mean?

The  kind  of  hurt  that  comes  along,

When  love  has  left  the  scene,

The  kind  of  hurt  that  brings  you  down,

And  leaves  you  all  alone,

You  cry, and  though  you  look  around,

You  find  no ‘comfort  zone’.

Why  did  you  walk  out  on  me?

Where  did  I  go  wrong?

I  thought  we’d  stay  together,

I  thought  our  love  was  strong,

But  when  you  turned  your  back  on  me,

The  hurt  cut  like  a  knife,

But  you  can  heal  the  hurt  I  feel,

Please  come  back  into  my  life.

‘cause  nothing  hurts  like  hurt,

You  must  know  what  I  mean,

The  hurt  that  sends  you  crazy,

When  love  has  left  the  scene,

It  burns  into  your  conscience,

You  feel  it  in  your  soul,

And  nothing  seems  to  make  much  sense,

When  hurt  is  taking  hold.

Now  I  don’t  need  this  hurt,

I  don’t  want  the  pain,

I  know  the  hurt  will  disappear,

If  you  come  back  again;

Heal  me, make  me  whole  again,

Heal  me, please  come  back  again.

‘cause  nothing  hurts  like  hurt,

You  must  know  what  I  mean,

The  hurt  that  sends  you  crazy,

When  love  has  left  the  scene,

It  burns  into  your  conscience,

You  feel  it  in  your  soul,

And  nothing  seems  to  make  much  sense

When  hurt  is  taking  hold.

Instrumental

‘cause  nothing  hurts  like  hurt,

You  must  know  what  I  mean,

The  hurt  that  sends  you  crazy,

When  love  has  left  the  scene,

It  burns  into  your  conscience,

You  feel it  in  your  soul,

And  nothing  seems  to  make  much  sense,

When  hurt  is  taking  hold.

But  you  can  stop  the  hurt,
You  can  end  my  pain,

I  know  the  hurt  will  disappear,
If  you  come  back  again;

Heal  me, make  me  whole  again,

Please  come  back  again.

Heal  me, make  me  whole  again,

Please  come  back  again.

Heal  me.

Nothing Hurts Like Hurt

The End of the Affair

The end of the affair

Is that  all  there  is  to  breaking  up,                                   Someone  says  goodbye, and  then  they  are gone?
Not  a  thousand  words, not  a  hundred  days,               But  the  end  of  the  affair, in  only  one.

I  never  saw  it  coming, what a fool,
I  never  saw  the  writing  on  the  wall,

I never  knew  that  life  could  be  so  cruel,                       But  when  you  fall  in  love, you miss  it  all.

You  miss  the  little  silent  moves, the  little  tell- tale  signs,
All  the  subtle  ways, that  hide  the  lie,                             And  someone  saying, look  out!  Read  between  the  lines,
Can’t  you  see  the  look  that  means  goodbye?

And  then  you  face  the  facts, that’s  how  it  is,             The  end  of  the  affair, oh  what  a shame,                       But  still  you  wonder, how  it’s  come  to  this,                 A  burning  love, that’s  now  a  dying  flame.

The  end  of  the  affair, what  happens  now?                   The  end  of  the  affair, where  do  I  go?                             I’d  travel  back  in  time, if  I  knew  how,                           Back  to  that  paradise  I  used  to  know.

Before  the  broken  promises, before  it  all  went  wrong,  In  those  special  days, when  life  was  sweet, Before  I  faced  the  future, living  all  alone,                     Walking  down  another  lonely  street.

The  end  of  the  affair, and  it’s  goodbye,                         The  end  of  the  affair, what  can  I  do?                             But  brush  away  the  tears ,each  time  I  cry,                   And  try  to  face  the  future  without  you.

And  try  to  face  the  future  without   you.

The end  of  the  affair….

The  end  of  the  affair.

The End of the Affair

I Could Have Been Great

And  now  I’m  in  a  lonely  place,

And  now  I  stumble  and  I  fall;

My  life  is  just  an  empty  space,

It’s  sad, I  could  have  had  it  all.

I  could  have  been  big, I  could  have  been  someone,

I  could  have  had  love, I  could  have  been  great;

But  I’m  ‘running  on  low’, I’m  ‘running  on  empty’,

Pushing  too  hard, I  just  couldn’t  wait.

I  could  have  been  big, I  could  have  been  someone,

I  could  have  been  great, it  could  have  been  me;

I  would  have  had  love, I  would  have  been  happy,

I  had  the  chance, but  I  couldn’t  see.

And  now  I  don’t  know  who  to  call,

And  now  I  don’t  know  what  to  do;

It’s  true, the  writing’s  on  the  wall,

I  couldn’t  be  great  without  you.

I  could  have  been  big, I  could  have  been  someone,

I  could  have  had  love, I  could  have  been  great;

But  I’m ‘running  on low’, I’m ‘running  on  empty’,

Pushing  too  hard, I  just  couldn’t  wait.

I  could  have  been  big, I  could  have  been  someone,

I  could  have  been  strong, I  could  have  been  great;

I  should  have  known  then, that  you  were  my  hero,

I  got  it  wrong  and  now  it’s  too  late.

Instrumental

That’s  why  I’m  in  a  lonely  place,

That’s  why  I  stumble  and  I  fall;

Reminded, when  I  see  your  face,

That  once, I  could  have  had  it  all.

I  could  have  been  big, I  could  have  been  someone,

I  could  have  had  love, I  could  have  been  great;

But  I’m ‘running  on  low’, I’m ‘running  on  empty’,

Pushing  too  hard, I  just  couldn’t  wait.

I  could  have  been  big, I  could  have  been  someone,

I  could  have been  great, it  could  have  been  me;

I  would  have  had  love, I  would  have  been  happy,

I  had  the  chance, but  I  couldn’t  see.

I  could  have  been  big, I  could  have  been  someone,

I  could  have  had  love, I  could  have  been  great;

But  I’m ‘running  on  low’, I’m  ‘running  on  empty’,

Pushing  too  hard, I  just  couldn’t  wait.

I  could  have  been  big, I  could  have  been  someone,

I  could  have  been  strong, I  could  have  been  great;

I  should  have  known  then, that  you  were  my  hero,

I  got  it  wrong, and  now  it’s  too  late.

I  could  have  had  love, I  could  have  been  great,

But  I’ll  never  be  great….without  you.

I Could Have Been Great

Going back to Nashville

The end of the affair

I’m  on  my  way  to  Nashville, after  one  more  broken  dream,

Love  has  turned  its  back  and  closed  the  door;

The  misery, the  heartache, and  another  tragic  scene,

But  I’ve  realised  that  music  is  the  cure.

So  I’m  heading  back  to  Nashville, with  my  guitar  and  a  song,

That’s  sure  to  ‘make  it’  in  the  Hit  Parade;

It’s  all  about  my  lover, and  the  way  he  did  me  wrong,

And  when  it  hits  the  top, I’ve  got  it  made.

It’s  sure  to  make  me  smile  again,

The  thought  of  playing  with  the  band,

The  guy’s  will  know  just  how  I  feel,

Though  sometimes  life’s  unfair,

I  know  they’ll  understand,

But  you  carry  on, well  that’s  the  deal.

So  I’m  going  back  to  Nashville, with  my  guitar  and  a  song,

That’s  all  about  a  dream  that  fell  apart;

It’s  all  about  my  lover, and  the  way  he  did  me  wrong,

And  every  word  I  sing, is  from  the  heart.

Instrumental

It’s  sure  to  make  me  smile  again,

The  thought  of  playing  with  the  band

The  guy’s  will  know  just  how  I  feel,

Though  sometimes  life’s  unfair,

I  know  they’ll  understand,

But  you  carry  on, well  that’s  the  deal.

So  I’m  going  back  to  Nashville, with  my  guitar  and  a  song,

I’m  sure  you’re  gonna  like  my  latest  tune;

And  when  you  get  to  know  the  words  I  hope  you’ll  sing  along,

That’s  when  we  get  together  friends, real  soon.

So  I’m  going  back  to  Nashville, with  my  guitar  and  a  song,

I’m  sure  you’re  gonna  like  my  latest  tune,

And  when  you  get  to  know  the  words  I  hope  you’ll  sing  along,

That’s  when  we  get  to  together  friends, real  soon.

….I’m  comin’  home.

Going back to Nashville

Night People

I  stumble  through  my  work  from  nine  to  five,

But  when  shadows  start  to  fall, I  come  alive;

And  when  the  midnight  chimes, I  spend  my  dollars  and  my  dimes,

Welcome  to  my  story  of  the  night.

With  the  right  people, with the  night  people,

That’s  when  the  love  affair  begins;

In  the  right  places, with  the  right  faces,

That’s  when  the  love  affair  begins.

I  love  the  city  when  the  night  time  comes,

The  dim  lit  cellars and  the  distant  drums;

The  sidewalks, neon  lights,

The  friendly  kisses, crazy  fights,

Winning, losing, sometimes, bruising  nights.

With  the  right  people, yes, the  night  people,

That’s  when  the  love  affair  begins;

With  the  right  people, with  the  night  people,

That’s  when  the  love  affair  begins.

And  then  the  lights  go  out  on  different  floors,

And  I’m  wondering  what  goes  on  behind  closed  doors;

But  I  still  hear  the  beat,

And  I  join  those  dancing  feet,

As  neon  lights  keep  shining  in  the  street.

For  the  right  people, for  the  night  people,

Every  second  counts, ‘cause  time  has  wings;

For  the  right  people, for  the  night  people,

This  is  when  the  love  affair  begins.

Instrumental

I  hear  the  laughter, now  it  beckons  me,

The  flesh  is  willing, and  the  spirit’s  free;

But  then  the  magic  disappears,

When  the  morning  re-appears.

Just  you  wait  until  it’s  night  again.

With  the  right  people, with  the  night  people,

That’s  when  the  love  affair  begins.

With  the  right  people, with  the  night  people,

That’s  when  the  love  affair  begins.

Night People

Rockin' at the 'Rainbow'

The Losing You Blues

The end of the affair

I  remember  it  now, it  was  ten  after  eight,

I  fell  out  of  bed, and  I  knew  I  was  late;

A  cup  of hot  coffee, was  waking  me  up,

Phone  ringing  loud, but  I  don’t  pick  it  up,

I  won’t  answer  yet, it  could  be  some  bad  news,

I’ve  got  no  time  for  the  ‘Losing  You  Blues.’

I  keep  letting  you  down, I  keep  missing  our  date,

If  I  go  on  like  this, love  will  turn  into  hate;

I  don’t  blame  you  now  babe, for  getting  upset,

You  leaving  me, is  a  ten  to  one  bet,

But  I  am  still  hoping  for  positive  news,

I’ve  got  no  time  for  the  ‘Losing  You  Blues.’

And  I’ve  been  one  step, two  steps, three  steps  behind,

I  have  to  catch  you  up, or  I’ll  go  out  of  my  mind,

I’ve  got  to  be  a  winner, I  don’t  want  to  lose,

Living  alone  with  the  ‘Losing  You  Blues.’

I’ve  been  thinking  a  lot  about  what  I  should  do,

Keeping  love  hot, now  I’ve  let  it  go  cool,

Saying  I’m  sorry, but  mean  it  this  time,

Those  two  little  words  that  were  so  hard  to  find,

Making  it  work  then, with  all  the  right  moves,

And  saying  goodbye  to  the  ‘Losing  You  Blues.’

I’ve  listed  all  of  the  ‘don’ts  and  do’s’

I’ll  wear  a  good  suit, and  I’ll  polish  my  shoes;

No  putting  my  feet  on  your  favourite  armchair,

Won’t  take  an  hour, when  combing  my  hair;

There’ll  be  no  time  for  the  parties  and  booze,

That  only  leads  to  the  ‘Losing  You  Blues.’

Instrumental

‘Twenty  four  seven’, it  was  all  about  me,

But  if  that’s  all  there  is, I  don’t  want  to  be  free;

I’ll  pick  up  the  phone  now, and  hope  it’s  good  news,

I  don’t  want  to  be  left  with  the  ‘Losing  You  Blues.’

I’m  gonna  wake  up, shake  up, I  don’t  want  to  break  up,

Living  life  without  you, is  the ‘ Losing  You  Blues’.

I’m  gonna  wake  up, shake  up, I  don’t  want  to  break  up,

Living  life  without  you, is  the  ‘Losing  You  Blues.’

The losing you blues

I’m  getting  high  on  love, and  I  can’t  help  it,

I’m  getting  high  on  love  and  high  on  you,

Not  just  your  smile, that’s  got  me  seeing  stars  now,

It’s  everything  you  say  and  do.

I  know  I’ve  got  it  bad, but  I  don’t  want  a  cure,

Bad  means  I’m  feeling  good,

It  isn’t  just  a  kiss, that’s  heating  up  my  blood,

It’s  everything  you  say  and  do.

I’m  getting  high  on  love  and  I  can’t  help  it,

I’m  getting  high  on  love  and  high  on  you,

Not  just  your  smile  that’s  got  me  seeing  stars  now,

It’s  everything  you  say  and  do.

So  where  do  we  go  now  baby, where  do  we  go  from  here?

I’ve  learnt  to  fly  with  you, I  ain’t  gonna  disappear,

I  don’t  want  to  live  without  you, I’m  not  even  gonna  try,

Love  is  the  drug  like  you, that’s  put  me  on  this  high.

I’m  getting  high  on  love  and  I  can’t  help  it,

I’m  getting  high  on  love  and  high  on  you,

Not  just  your  smile  that’s  got  me  seeing  stars  now,

It’s  everything  you  say  and  do,

I’m  getting  high  as  a  kite, you’d  better  believe  it,

I’m  getting  high  as  a  kite  ‘n  high  on  you,

I  don’t  want  a  drink, I  don’t  need  a  cigarette,

‘cause  I’m  getting  high  on  you.

Instrumental

I’m  getting  high  on  love  and  folk  they  are  talking,

They  put  the  blame  on  you,

But  I  don’t  really  care, let ‘em  talk, let ‘em  stare,

I  want  to  get  my  kicks  from  you.

You  are  the  habit  that  I  don’t  want  to  quit,

‘cause  I’m  getting  high  on  you,

I’m  getting  high  on  you,

Yes  I  am, I’m  getting  high  on  you,

I’m  getting  high  on  you.

Cold

The end of the affair

‘COLD’

Cold…I  feel  so  cold,

I’ve  never  felt  as  cold  as  this  before,

It’s  on  the  outside, it’s  on  the inside,

And  I  don’t  want  to  live  here  anymore,

In  this  place  called  loneliness  and  pain,

Why  did  I  let  you  go? Please, come  back  again,

‘cause  I’m  so  cold.

Warm…you  made  me  warm,

I’d  never  felt  as  warm  as  that  before,

Not  just  the  outside, but  on  the  inside,

Until  I  said  goodbye, and  closed  the door,

Took  the  road  to  loneliness  and  pain,

Why  did  I  let  you  go? Please  come  back  again,

I  feel  so  cold.

Love  burned  like  a  fire  not  long  ago.

Why  I  doused  the  flames  I’ll  never  know,

Now  my  life  is  cold  and  full  of  pain,

Let  me  light  the  fire  once  again.

Love…you  gave  me  love,

I’d  never  known  a  love  like  that  before,

And  from  the  outside, you  took  me  inside,

When  I  was  feeling  lost, and  insecure,

In  my  world  of  loneliness  and  tears,

Until  you  came  along, and  took  away  my  fears,

But  now  I’m  cold.

Love  burned  like  a  fire  not  long  ago,

Why  I  doused  the  flames  I’ll  never  know,

Now  my  life  is  cold  and  full  of  pain,

Let  me  light  the  fire  once  again.

Instrumental

Cold…I  feel  so  cold,

I’ve  never  felt  as  cold  as  this  before,

I’m  on  the  outside, I  can’t  get  inside,

Because  I  said  goodbye, and  closed  the  door,

Let  the  fire  burn  down, it’s  such  a  shame,

Yes, now  I  feel  so  cold, and  I  can’t  stand  the  pain,

I feel  so  cold.

Let  the  fire  burn  down, it’s  such  a  shame,

Yes, now  I  feel  so  cold, and  I  can’t  stand  the  pain,

I feel  so  cold… so  cold.

Cold

What’s wrong with me? What’s wrong with me?
Why don’t I cry anymore?
It’s not that I don’t get lonely,
I get lonely that’s for sure,
But maybe now I’m all cried out,
With nothing left inside,
‘cause on the day that love walked out, something in me died.

I play a game of solitaire, then turn the lights down low,
It’s what you do when no one’s there,
You watch the Late, Late Show,
Then try to get a little  sleep,
Before the night is done,
But sorrow’s there, and it burns deep,
And still the tears don’t come.

What’s wrong with me? What’s wrong with me?
Why don’t I cry anymore?
What’s wrong with me? What’s wrong with me?
Why don’t I cry anymore?

I remember tears of joy, but now I can’t explain,
Just how I came to lose the boy,
That started tears of pain,
Then moving from my silent room,
I walk down lonely streets,
But now I know the tears won’t come,
Although the heart still beats.

What’s wrong with me? What’s wrong with me?

Why don’t I cry anymore?

What’s wrong with me? What’s wrong with me?

Why don’t I cry anymore?

Instrumental

What’s wrong with me? What’s wrong with me? Why don’t I cry anymore?
What’s wrong with me? What’s wrong with me?             Why don’t I cry anymore?

No, I don’t cry anymore.

I  wrote  you  a  letter  yesterday,

And  put  it  in  the  mail  box  right  away,

When  I  make  my  mind  up, I  don’t  hesitate,

I  wrote  were  getting  married, no  debate!

I  left  you  this  message  on  your  phone,

But  I  won’t  hang  around, I’m  coming  home,

I  can’t  wait  to  see  you, baby  you’re  just  great,

That’s  why  we’re  getting  married, no  debate!

Sticks  and  stones  can  break  the  bones, that’s  definitely  true,

But  people  talking  out  of  turn, don’t  let ‘em  get  to  you;

They  say  that  I  don’t  love  you, well  tell  it  to  the  birds!

‘cause  you’re  the  only  one  that  counts, so  listen  to  my  words.

You  know  I’m  not  the  type  to  make  a  fuss,

Now  I  don’t  have  my  car, I’ll  take  the  bus,

Then  I’ll  tell  the  driver, buddy  don’t  be  late,

‘cause  soon  I’m  getting  married, no  debate!

When  the  bus  arrives, no  going  back,

Now  I’ve  burned  my  bridges, that’s  a  fact,

Everything  will  work  out, there’ll  be  no  regret,

‘cause  soon  we’re  getting  married, no  debate!

Instrumental

Sticks  and  stones  can  break  the  bones, that’s  definitely  true,

But  bad  words  never  harm  you, if  you  don’t  let ‘em  through;

Some  folk  can  be  heartless, they  just  cuss  and  crow,

But  I  love  you, and  you  love  me, that’s  all  they  need  to  know.

Do  I think  you’re  perfect, no  debate,

A  living  loving  legend, no  debate,

You  can  call  the  preacher, fix  the  wedding  date,

‘cause  soon  we’re  getting  married, no  debate!

Soulmates

The end of the affair

I’ve been thinking a lot about you lately
That first ‘Hello’, but then the last ‘Goodbye’,
And so much in-between, we loved and lived the dream,
And never thought a tender heart could die.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the good times,
When every summer seemed to last a year,
But now time goes so fast, and nothing ever lasts,
Except the memories that I hold dear,
….now you’re not here.
Now you’re not here.

I want to reach out through time and space and find you,
I want to bring you back and never let you go,
For when soulmates meet, their lives are both complete,
But if you take away a heart, the other heart won’t beat.

I’ve been thinking a lot about you lately,
And how my life is empty without you,
No answer when I call, no footsteps in the hall,
So lonely now, I know what I must do,,,

I’m going to reach out through time and space and find you,
I’m going to bring you back and never let you go,
For when soulmates meet, their lives are both complete,
But if you take away a heart, the other heart won’t beat.

I’m going to bring you back and never let you go,
For when soulmates meet, their lives are both complete,
But if you take away a heart, the other heart won’t beat.

Soulmates…yes, we are soulmates
And I… I need you.
Soulmates… yes, we are soulmates
And I… I love you.

Picking Up The Pieces

The end of the affair

The  boy  and  girl  in  the  photograph,

well  I  don’t  know  their  names,

but  I  have  seen  them  many  times  before,

I’ve  seen  their  smiling  faces  in  silver  picture  frames,

in  broken  glass, in  broken  homes, and  lying  on  the  floor.

So  many  golden   memories  before  the  silent  pain,

children  playing  in  the  sun, but  then  the  wind  and  rain,

coming  out  of  nowhere, to  spoil  a  perfect  day,

and  someone  taking  hold  of  love, and  throwing  it  away.

Picking  up  the  pieces, of  lives  and  shattered  glass,

it’s  not  easy, sometimes  there  is  blood,

but  if  we  keep  the  photograph, it  just  may  come  to  pass,

that  we  can  heal  the  wounds  and  make  life  good.

The  boy  and  girl  in  the  photograph,

please  give  them  all  your  love,

don’t  let  their  hopes  and  dreams  fall  to  the  floor,

take  them  to  a  higher  place, and  show  them  what  is  good,

no  broken  glass,  no  broken  home,  behind  a  friendly  door.

That’s  the  way  it  should  be, and  it  will  be  if  we  try,

no  one  has  to  feel  the  pain, and  no  one  has  to  die,

looking  to  the  future, inside  that  picture  frame,

no  broken  glass, no  broken  hearts, and  love  is  home  again.

Picking  up  the  pieces, of  lives  and  shattered  glass,

it’s  not  easy, but  it  can  be  done,

yes  we  can  find  a  better  way, and  we  can  make  it  last,

and  see  our  children  playing  in  the  sun.

SUCH  MEN  ARE  DANGEROUS!

The end of the affair

When  he  walked  into  the  room,

Heads  began  to  turn,

Cool, the  guy  looked  cool,

And  style, enough  to  burn.

Six  foot  tall, and  handsome,

Looking  neat  and  trim,

He’d  obviously  been  working  out,

Down  at  the  local  gym.

Hair  slicked  back, and  looking  good,

Blue  eyes  behind  his  ‘shades’,

The  way  he  walked, the  way  he  stood,

Left  everyone  amazed.

‘cause  this  was  a  guy  with  style,

The  way  he  combed  his  hair,

The  way  he  made  you  smile,

But  made  you  think… BEWARE!

Yes, I  believe  those  kind  of  guys  are  dangerous,

They  break  your  heart, and  then  they  walk  away,

You’re  just  another  girl, and  you’re  anonymous,

As  they  move  on, to  make  another ‘play’,

Keeping  up  with  fashion,

Looks  great  in red  and  black,

Fills  your heart  with  passion,

Then  he  turns  his  back.

So  you watch  him  walk  away,

I  guess  life  isn’t  fair,

Thinks  you’re  just  another  dame,

So  look  out  girls, BEWARE!

I’m  telling  you  right  now  such  men  are  dangerous,

‘cause  they  don’t  really  care, and  that’s  a  crime,

Pretending  that  their  love  for  you  is  serious,

But  style  and  charm  can  fool  you  every  time.

Instrumental

Riding  in  his ‘limo’,

This  guy  you  shouldn’t  trust,

You  don’t  know  how  far  he’ll  go,

So  always  take  the  bus.

In  the  end  he’ll  drive  away,

He  really  doesn’t  care,

If  you  go  or  if  you  stay

So  look  out  girls  BEWARE!

But  even  when you know such men  are dangerous,

Yes  even  when  you know  there  could  be  pain,

You  never  take the warning very serious,

And  then  the  story  starts  all  over  again,

But  even  when  you  know  such  men  are  dangerous,

Yes  even  when  you  know  there  could  be  pain,

You  never  take  the  warning  very  serious,

And  then  the  story  starts  all  over  again,

And  then  the  story  starts  all  over  again.

MIDNIGHT  MERRY-GO-ROUND

The end of the affair

Celebrations, good  vibrations,

This  could  be  the  night,

Dedications, salutations,

Better  hold  on  tight,

But  here  comes  trouble,

Bursts  the  bubble,

Take  it  in  your  stride,

Sleeping, walking,

Laughing, talking,

Eyes  shut, open  wide.

I’m  taking  a  ride  on  this  Merry- Go-Round,

And  I’m  getting  high  as  a  kite,

My  head  is  in  the  clouds,
But  my  feet  are  on  the  ground,

This  could  be  another  crazy  night.

Big  time  Rollers, shrug  their  shoulders,

Looking  for  a  fight,

I  won’t  fake  it, I  can  take  it,

When  the  time  is  right,

Accusation, explanation,

Blame  it  on  the  booze,

Medication, compensation,

Got  to  be  good  news.

Short instrumental break.

But  I’m  getting  off  of  this  Merry- Go-Round,

I  suddenly  feel  kind  of  rough,

My  head  is  in  my  hands,

And  I’m  looking  at  the  ground,

Someone  call  a  taxi,  had  enough!

But  I’m  getting  off  of  this  Merry-Go -Round

I suddenly  feel  kind  of  rough,

My  head  is  in  my  hands,

And  I’m  looking  at  the  ground,

Someone  call  a  taxi, had  enough

Instrumental

Yes, I’m  getting  off  of  this  Merry-Go-Round,

And I’m  turning  my  back  on  the  zoo,

I’m  on  my  way, I’m  homeward  bound,

Coming  back  home  to  you,

Yes, I’m  getting  off  of  this  Merry-Go-Round

And  I’m  turning  my  back  on  the  zoo.

I’m  on  my  way, I’m  homeward  bound,

Coming  back  home  to  you,

Yes, I’m  getting  of  this  Merry-Go-Round,

And  I’m  turning  my  back  on  the  zoo,

I’m  on  my  way, I’m  homeward  bound,

The Boy in Sycamore Park

The end of the affair

The  other  day  walked down  to  Sycamore  Park

I  didn’t  mind  the  cool  September  rain,

And  then I  heard  a  voice, say ’will  you  stop  and  talk?’

I  waited, then  I  heard  those  words  again.

A  boy  was  looking  at  me, no  more  than  seventeen

I  must  admit, he  took  me  by  surprise,

In  and  out  of  shadow, by  a  sycamore  tree

But  I  still  saw  the  sadness  in  his  eyes.

The  boy  in  Sycamore  Park, I  never  knew  his  name

Though  we  talked  and  talked  the  many  hours  away,

Walking  hand  in  hand, laughing  in  the  rain

‘til  the  sadness  in  his  eyes  had  gone  away.

And  suddenly  the  hurt  came  back, he  knew  he  couldn’t  stay

He said  he  really  had  to  go  away,

It  was  something  that  he  felt  he  had  to  do

Something, that  he  had  to  follow  through.

But  I  never  saw  my beautiful  friend  again

He  never  stayed  around  there  to  explain,

Oh  yes, we’d  laughed  a  lot, and  talked  so  well

But  some  things, you  hide  inside  your  shell.

The  boy  in  Sycamore  Park, wherever  did  he  go?

The  boy  I  loved  and  lost, perhaps  I’ll  never  know,

The  boy  I  met  that  time,  one  rainy  autumn  day
The  boy  in  Sycamore  Park  who  went  away.

Meanwhile, back in Paris

The end of the affair

A while ago I moved to Paris, France,

Well, a girl has got to live, and find romance,

And no, I’m not complaining, in fact, I’m doing fine,

Having lots of fun, and a little wine.

I keep in touch with all the girls back home,

But all I hear is misery on the phone,

And when I get a letter, all I read is pain,

And every time I call, it’s still the same.

Meanwhile, back in Paris, guess who’s feeling great,

I met a boy who’d just got back from Spain,

Holding hands and kissing, like we couldn’t wait,

Walking on the banks of the river Seine.

But I still think about the girls back home,

The girls who call me up ‘cause they’re alone,

I say when you’re unhappy, you need a change of scene,

Make a move, and you can live the dream.

Yes, love and Paris go together well,

In a small café, or in the best hotel,

Along the Champs Elysees, or down a cobbled street,

Every special place where lovers meet.

Meanwhile, back in Paris, I’m still having fun,

‘Home sweet home’ is something I don’t miss,

But sometimes I swap Paris, for Monte Carlo sun,

Believe me, life don’t get much better than this!

Instrumental

So listen, girls why don’t you take a chance,

And spend a little time in Paris, France,

Then maybe you’ll get lucky, and fine the perfect guy,

No guarantees, but still you have to try.

Meanwhile, back in Paris, I’m still having fun,

‘Home sweet home’ is something I don’t miss,

But sometimes I swap Paris, for Monte Carlo sun,

Believe me, life don’t get much better than this!

And pardon my French, but here’s the reason why…

Les filles, venez a’ Paris, c’est la vie,

Et la vie a’ Paris, c’est l’amour!

Meanwhile, back in Paris, I’m still having fun,

‘Home sweet home’ is something I don’t miss,

But sometimes I swap Paris, for Monte Carlo sun,

Believe me, life don’t get much better than this!

Murphy's Bar

The end of the affair

Now, Sean Malone and several friends

were sitting in Murphy’s Bar,

And by the way, the place was known

for serving the finest jar.

The atmosphere was always good,

you’d come in to hear the band,

And welcome strangers with a beer,

and shaking them by the hand.

Well, Sean Malone and all his friends

were full of joy and life,

For just arrived, a baby boy

for Sean and his darling wife.

The music played, and jokes were made,

no time for politics,

That’s why nobody could explain,

exactly what happened next.

The music stopped, a fight began,

and people hit the floor,

Those who could, got up and ran,

and made for the nearest door.

Flying chairs, and lots of noise,

as blood mixed with the booze,

Flying fists, from all the boys,

what happened to Sean’s good news?

Trouble, who needs trouble?

when life goes by so fast,

Life is short, make life sweet,

for nothing ever lasts.

So shake my hand, give a smile,

And raise another jar,

As we spend a little while,

sitting in Murphy’s Bar.

Instrumental

Yes, Murphy’s Bar is still the place

for Sean, he’s still a fan,

And what is past is history,

Sean’s baby became a man.

Yes, Murphy’s Bar is still the place
for Sean, he’s still a fan,
And what is past is history,
Sean’s baby became a man.

But no one solved the mystery

of how it all began,

That crazy night in Murphy’s Bar,

and just how it all began.

But no one solved the mystery
of how it all began,
That crazy night in Murphy’s Bar,
and just how it all began.

That crazy night in Murphy’s Bar,
and just how it all began.

Days that I'll remember

The end of the affair

These are the days that I’ll remember all my life,
and there’ll be no regrets, whatever comes,
now’s the time for heroes, when they hear the distant drums,
until the fire burns down, burns down from red to black.

These are the days that I’ll remember all my life,
you look at me and smile, it feels so good,
I’ll be there for you now, and l will go the extra mile,
through the desperate hours, although there may be blood.

I was only killing time, hoping the heartache wouldn’t last,
running around the same old circle,
running hard, but going nowhere fast.
but now I’m running hard with you,
and every step I take, worth any pain,
I believe in you, and what you do,
it’s true, I’ll never know your like again.

These are the days that I’ll remember all my life,
a crazy roller-coaster ride with you,
living every moment, through the highs and through the lows,
now’s the time for heroes, and suddenly, it’s you.

Instrumental

These are the days that I’ll remember all my life,

Down All The Days

The end of the affair

Although there’s solid ground beneath your feet?
Your footsteps make no sound, down that dark street,
But must you walk alone each silent mile?
I’d like to know, step out of shadow, for a while.

If your life must always be a mystery,
Then I would never try to change your ways,
But where you are is where I want to be,
And that will never change, down all the days.

Down all the days, I’ll be there for you,
Whatever tune the piper plays,
I’ll dance the dance with you,
Perhaps I’ll never know you, or understand your ways,
But I’ll be there for you, my love,
For you, down all the days.

Sometimes the hero has to run away,
Disappearing in the twilight haze,
Coming back to fight on another day,
And never giving up, down all the days.

Perhaps you think that I’ll give up on you,
And the way I feel, a passing phase,
But when I say I love you, of course it’s true,
And that will never change, down all the days.

Down all the days, I’ll be there for you,
Whatever tune the piper plays,
I’ll dance the dance with you,
Perhaps I’ll never know you, or understand your ways,
But I’ll be there for you, my love,
For you, down all the days.

Yes, I’ll be there for you, my love,
For you, down all the days.

In a Lonely Place

Newpic.JPG

It’s a long, and lonely way down from the top,
and I should know, I reached the dizzy heights,
once upon a time, well not so long ago,
so many golden days and silver nights.

It’s a long, and lonely way back to the best,
and I should know, now you’re so far away,
my 20-20 vision is now put to the test,
when all I see is blue turn into grey.

Then grey turns into black, and I go down,
down into the darkness and despair,
but you can help me, save me, bring me back,
then I will live again, because you’re there.

I’m in a sad, and such a very lonely place,
take me back to where I used to be,
once upon a time, well not so long ago,
when life was beautiful, for you and me.

Now where you are, perhaps is lonely too,
and I would know, if I could see your face,
please talk to me, and tell me if it’s true,
there doesn’t have to be a lonely place.

But heroes come and go, that is their way,
they move along, to run another race,
where winning must be part of every day,
but you and I , stay in a lonely place.

Life can be beautiful, life can be great,
but life can also be, a lonely place.
such… a lonely place.

Straight Down The Line

No one gets out of this place, my love,
no one gets out of here alive,
this is no, come and go as you please,
you should know, this is no ‘nine to five’
There is no, ’I’ll get it right next time’
sad to say, there is no second chance,
but always you and me, straight down the line,
and maybe there’ll be time for one more dance.

The beginning and the end, they are the same,
can’t you see it’s just a crazy game?
And no one gets a winning hand, or drinks the vintage wine,
so let us say ‘Goodnight’ for the very last time.

No one gets out of this place my love,
no one gets out of here alive,
there is no place to hide, that’s the deal,
in the end, nowhere we can survive,
There’ll be no, ‘See you later my love’
what a shame, there’ll be no morning star,
but always you and me, straight down the line,
and thinking, dearest heart, of who we are.

The beginning and the end, they are the same,
can’t you see, it’s just a crazy game?
And no one gets a winning hand, or drinks the vintage wine,
so let us say ‘Goodnight’ for the very last time.

The beginning and the end, they are the same,
that’s the way it is, no one’s to blame,
when no one gets a winning hand, or drinks the vintage wine,
so let us say ‘Goodnight’ for the very last time.
